Fabulous evening at the Sportsman's Dinner

Fabulous evening at the Sportsman's Dinner

Ian Willans12 Feb - 18:13

Michael Vaughan stars and The Children's Hospital Charity receive a bumper cheque

On Saturday 1st February nearly 300 members, families and guests gathered for the clubs Sportsman's Dinner at Lazaats Hotel.

Entertainment was provided by Michael Vaughan relaying tales of leading England and the unusual lengths required to get a 10 on Strictly. Music was provided by the fabulous Mike Brown Band and a great evening was had by all.

The evening also gave the club a chance to present a cheque to guests from the chosen charity for last years walk along the Cleveland Way - The Children's Hospital Charity.

Ben and Jasmine Fish did a marvelous job leading our fundraising efforts last year and chose the charity after the help they had received at the time of the birth of their second child Nellie.

The proceeds from the sponsored 45 mile trek from Helmsley to Roseberry Topping were split evenly between the club and the charity raising an impressive £10,788.25 for the hospital fund. Jaz and a few of her crazier friends also completed a sky dive to take the total to £13,299.43.

What was harder Jaz a mile straight down or 45 across Yorkshire?

Fundraising to keep the club moving forwards isn't easy but we always look to have fun along the way. Thank you to everyone who attended the dinner, all the walkers, support team and everyone who donated. Special thanks on this occasion must go to Kieran O'Brian for his efforts in pulling together a truly special Sportsman's Dinner - a great night and another £6,000 towards the costs of providing the fabulous facilities we all enjoy.
